Based in Bordeaux at the Institut Bergonié Comprehensive Cancer Center, Explicyte is dedicated to advancing cancer research for the benefit of patients.
We believe this long-term mission is inseparable from the way we operate every day: running our labs responsibly, providing a safe and healthy workplace, and contributing to the scientific and local communities around us.

Responsible lab & stock management
Our work involves handling biological samples, which often requires single-use plastic consumables to prevent contamination. To secure our operations while reducing our environmental footprint, we have implemented the following practices:
- Best-practice chemical & biological waste management to ensure safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible disposal, aligned with the French DASRI framework
- Systematic recycling and sorting of packaging in both labs and offices. For instance, we participate in a recycling program for polypropylene laboratory consumables (boxes, racks, etc.), which are transformed into pellets used to manufacture new products.
- Smart purchasing and stock management: pooled orders and shared consumables to reduce transport, avoid over-ordering, and minimize waste

Safe & healthy work environment
We are a human-sized company delivering R&D services. Our scientists are central to serving our sponsors. We therefore foster a workplace that prioritizes safety, well-being, and respect:
- Health & safety governance: all employees receive initial training and regular refresher training in health & safety. Our risk assessment plan (DUERP) is reviewed with employee representatives (CSE), and our ISO-compliant quality management system includes a continuous improvement program.
- Equality & non-discrimination: we welcome scientists from all backgrounds and promote a culture rooted in fairness, inclusion, and respectful collaboration.
- Work–life balance:we offer flexible work arrangements (including working from home, where applicable), apply right-to-disconnect best practices, and provide access to childcare solutions to support new parents.

Community building
We believe our impact in the fight against cancer depends on how we engage with our ecosystem—through scientific collaboration and local involvement:
- Training the next generation: we currently host three medical oncologists from Institut Bergonié for their PhD theses (CIFRE with the University of Bordeaux) and celebrated our first thesis graduation in 2025. We also maintain strong ties with the biotech engineering school ENSTBB (a former trainee joined us full-time in 2025).
- Scientific partnerships: we have established long-standing collaborations with French Comprehensive Cancer Centers, including Institut Bergonié and Gustave Roussy, leading to 30+ peer-reviewed publications over the past five years, regular presentations at international conferences (ASCO, AACR), and joint research programs such as RHU CONDOR.
- Supporting cancer research & solidarity initiatives: we are a historical partner of a caregivers’ rugby team and support local initiatives that fund cancer research (e.g., La Course du Petit Prince), as well as associations addressing social and economic vulnerability, such as Super Patate.
